Speaker: His Excellency, Ambassador François Delattre

François Delattre was appointed ambassador, permanent representative of France to the United Nations on Sept. 2, 2014, after serving as ambassador of France to the United States (2011-14). He was also previously the ambassador to Canada (2008-11), consul general in New York (2004-08) and press and communications director at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. (1998-2002).

Ambassador Delattre is a strong advocate of economic diplomacy, which he experienced in each of his diplomatic postings, starting with Bonn at the French Embassy in Germany (1989-91), where he was in charge of assessing the economic impact of Germany’s re-unification and the environment.

In France, he was responsible for European and trans-Atlantic defense and security matters and managing the Bosnian crisis as a member of President Jacques Chirac’s foreign policy team (1995-98) after serving in the same capacity in the cabinet of Foreign Minister Alain Juppé (1993-95). He also worked with the Strategic, Security and Disarmament Department of the French Foreign Ministry (1991-93) and served as deputy director of French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin’s Office (2002-04).

An old friend of the Paris American Club, we have had the privilege of his company at many events over the years.

We shall also have the pleasure of a piano interlude by François-Xavier Poizat, of Chinese, French and Swiss origins and a graduate of the Juilliard School. In addition to performing on renowned stages in over 22 countries, Poizat is director of the International Puplinge Classique Festival in Geneva.

You may also sign up for all Paris American Club events directly on our website: Consult it monthly to register for all upcoming events.
